Bear Gatecrashes Backyard Monopoly Game

BEDFORD, NH — A Dutch family vacationing in Bedford said they were both scared and excited when a black bear entered the backyard as they were playing a game of Monopoly on Monday.
Lisa Jordan-Anker said her husband and two boys are spending the summer at her parents house, and they saw something they cant see in the wild in the Netherlands.

A black bear came to visit them in the back yard while the boys were playing Monopoly with their grandmother on the deck.
We didnt notice that the bear was right there, said Oliver Jordan-Anker, 8.
But the boys parents said they saw the bear approaching while they were inside fixing dinner at the kitchen sink.
Out of the woods came this bear, so I panicked and ran to the porch door and said, Get in the house, get in the house, Lisa Jordan-Anker said.
Im like, Whats the matter? And I looked behind me, and I saw a really big bear, said Cobi Jordan-Anker, 9.
Safely inside, the family started snapping photos as the bear snatched the birdfeeder hanging in the back yard.
(The bear) just took the birdfeeder off, which my grandpa doesnt like. Then he put it on the ground and started to pound on it to get the most seed, Oliver Jordan-Anker said.
With the bear, and the birdfeeder gone, the family said theyre on a backyard bear watch.
Oliver and Cobi Jordan-Anker said they are having an exciting summer vacation at their grandparents house, but it just got better with one big story to bring home.
I think the boys have quite a story to tell when theyre back at school in Holland, father Hans Anker said.
Bedford police said its the third bear sighting reported this summer, and they recommend taking birdfeeders inside the house.
