HERITAGE FEST
The 19th annual Townsend Heritage Festival and Old Timers Day is Sept. 23-24 at the Townsend Visitors Center, 7906 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway. The event showcases traditional East Tennessee mountain culture including bluegrass music and clogging and features art and craft booths, storytelling, flower and plant demonstrations and sales, an antique tractor show, a dulcimer workshop and concert and more. Admission is free.

MORE HERITAGE
Downtown Dandridge will host its fifth annual Scots-Irish Music Festival on Saturday, Sept. 24. The festival honors the towns earliest settlers. Concerts and events are free to attend. A piping and highland dance competition begis at 8:30 am, followed by a stree festival, dog show, pipe band parade at noon, and entertainment from stage.

SWEET HOMES
The Tellico Village annual home tour will be held from 1-5 pm Sunday, Oct. 2. Four homes will be open to tour, and refreshments and a gift boutique will be open at the Tellico Village Yacht Club. The tour is a fundraiser for local and international charities supported by the Tellico Village Womens Club.

FIT FEST
Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center is hosting the Fit 4 Life fall festival to encourage families to be active. A giant Zumba class will be held on the fitness center tennis courts. There will also be a Kick Start class for preschoolers to introduce exercise in hopes of building a lifetime habit of physical activity.
All fitness center membership enrollment fees collected at the festival will be donated to the Knoxville Area Coalition on Childhood Obesity.
The fitness center is offering a variety of screenings, information, and activities for adults, including professional shoe fitting (no purchase required), and visitors may talk to experts about health and fitness and even take on a tennis or racquetball challenge.
The festival is 9 am-2 pm Saturday, Sept. 24, at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center, 270 Fort Sanders West Blvd.

SHAKE IT UP
Save the date: Party in Pink, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, will be held 4-6 pm Saturday, Oct. 8, and will include a Zumbathon, led by several of the areas leading Zumba instructors. A donation of $15 will reserve a spot in the Zumbathon. For info: www.knoxpartyinpink.com.
