Shakespeare Society to celebrate with sonnets and songs

Posted By on January 8, 2012

The musical Shakespearean style entertainers, John Gardiner and Jason Feddy, return to the Shakespeare and Modern Culture Society on Dec. 12 for a holiday celebration. Setting Shakespeares sonnets and songs that had been sung and played on lutes and period instruments during his time, the performers will offer blues-like music and Shakespeares scripts to fit modern ears and sensibilities. What was popular with the 16th century audiences still works in modern dress.

When not on stage, Gardiner teaches drama, poetry and the Bard at UC Irvines Gifted Students Academy during the summers. He co-led the Laguna Beach Poets Workshop and over the years was cast in roughly 40 Shakespeare productions in a range of characters.
